I think this is an Echinopsis cactus flower. It's a night-bloomer, and this image was taken in the early morning light before sunrise. There was a lot of blue light coming from the clear sky, and this provided the blue hues to the white petals, which I enhanced in Photoshop. As I did, the composition took on a bit of an extraterrestrial feel, and I let it go in this direction. I'm sure I'm not the first photographer who looked into a flower and ended up seeing the larger Universe. Hopefully I'm not the last one either.
