Autumn comes late to the Sonoran Desert. Even though Sabino Canyon is located at an altitude of over 2500 feet, its southerly location and extended warmth keeps summer going well past the September equinox. Peak autumn color, what little there is, happens after Thanksgiving. It's easy to miss in the rush to get ready for the holidays.
