They grew up together. One older, one younger. One bigger, one smaller. They shared games and laughter, books and bicycles. They looked the same and everyone knew they were brothers.
This cove of numerous balanced rocks, also known as hoodoos, provides the perfect reminder of the bond one can share with a sibling. The area contains various grouping of similarly shaped rocks that are obviously related geologically. There are many possible family portraits.
I always thought the best time to photograph here would be near the winter solstice, when the sun was far south on the horizon at sunset allowing evening light to enter the cove. Surprisingly, the summer solstice provides the best light. The east wall catches the late-day light which reflects onto the pillars supporting the capstones. Clear sky provides soft, blue illumination to areas not facing the wall.
