While a few lower leaves linger, most of foliage that can be reached by the resident deer population in Zion National Park gets ingested by them. The browse line follows the curvature of the hill on which the trees grow and provides an opening for seeing the grasses and supporting trunks. Each year brings different autumn conditions to Zion. Plentiful moisture throughout 2010 lead to abundant leaves and grasses that maintained their succulent character well in to fall.
