The light in Hoodoo Cove isn't normally impressive. Putty-colored sandstone and dark brown capstones constitute the formations in this small box canyon. For a few minutes at sunset, however, the place is transformed. While most of the area has fallen into shadow, the last light of the day is still washing over the eastern wall of the cove. The warm light reflects off the wall and illuminates the immediate area, accentuating formations that catch the light directly. Shadowed areas reflect the blue hue of a cloudless sky. Camera film emphasizes these colors to create a new spectrum of color on this ordinarily drab canvas.
