Four Blooms
For several years, my backyard played host to this Cereus cactus. I patiently waited for the first monsoon rain as that would trigger the blooms to open about a week later. Unfortunately, this was the final display. Shortly after this event, the cactus was chewed off, probably by javelinas, which roam wild through the neighborhood. I thought it was dead, but two branches are back and growing strong, so maybe I will be able to enjoy additional flowers sometime in the future.
