Small pincushion cacti are quite common in the Sonoran Dessert. However, this particular Mammalaria specimen is from Bach's Cactus Nursery near Tucson, Arizona. They have a living museum featuring a wide variety of Mammalari cacti. On this one, some unexpected counter-clockwise swirls became evident when the image was converted to black and white.
