Rock Window
The teardrop-shaped window tucked up above Monument Valley is probably one of the most beautiful stone openings in the world. It perfectly frames the monuments below and, if you're lucky, a decent skyscape. This image was composed to take advantage of the shifting clouds. I waited for the foreground rock containing the window to fall into cloud shadow while the distant monuments were still lit by the bright afternoon sun. This provided soft light on the closer rock and good contrast in the distance.
